Toys R Us Midnight Madness

Toys R Us Midnight Madness

Thanks to our good friends at Toys R Us for their unprecendeted access to last night's Midnight Madness event at Brent Cross.  We also have to thank the UK Garrison for helping to keep the crowds under control and giving up their time so generously as always.

We got there at about 10:45 and there were about 30 people already queing for the event.  By the time midnight came this figure had risen to over 100 people and Karen (the Manager at the Brent Cross store) was very pleased
especially after being taken prisoner by the UK Garrison earlier in the evening (see our pictures for proof).

We then spent the next hour photgraphing the new feature wall.  Ten seconds before midnight a countdown began and the crowd joined in.  They were then let in (and captured by our in-store webcam) to buy what they'd been waiting for and were pleasantly suprised to see wave 2 of The Legacy Collection on the shelves along with the A-Wing & B-Wing which weren't expected until mid-August and October respectively.  The Legacy Collection appeared to be out selling the new CLone Wars figures.  For every £20 spent on any products (excluding LEGO) people were able to get a free Holographic General Grievous figure which otherwise could be bought for £12.99.

The staff on-hand were extremelly helpful ensuring that everybody got what they needed and when figures emptied out on the pegs they ensured they were restocked in time for the next person in line.

Mike Coogan, Marketing Director of Toys R Us in the UK, said 'We're very pleased with the turnout, it takes a lot of time and organisation to put on the event and it has gone very well'

Steph, the Hasbro Star Wars Brand Manager, also came along and said 'It's great to finally see the culmination of months of work, on the shelves and people buying the products'
